Unlike traditional auctions or eBay, Auctions-Now.com is a completely different type of online-auction site. We offer onsite previews, and assist with move outs.  Our knowledgeable staff will assist buyers by consulting them on how your products will work for their specific needs.  We do this so that you have complete faith with your purchasing decision.  Our online auctions will take many forms of payment including all major credit cards for convenience to the buyer.  Our goal is to have the best and most convenient experience by both the buyer and seller!

GENERAL FAQ ‘S

What is an internet-only auction?

An internet-only auction is where items assets are sold online without the accompaniment of a live auction or sale. Internet-only events contain the same components (items, seller, bidder, price, quantity) as a traditional live auction. At a scheduled time, items will close by asset number.

What is the difference between Auctions-Now.com and a traditional live auction?

Traditional auctions are generally conducted on-site and in place at the asset location. Bidders are required to arrive early for an inspection and must remain onsite for the duration of the event while items are sold one at a time. Removal is usually the sale day or shortly thereafter in the next week, the bidder may have to come back to pick up their items for many different reasons.

Buyers can bid online at any time while the auction is posted.  In most cases there will be an onsite preview of the items where the buyer can view the assets in person and be helped with questions or concerns.  We provide consultation on how certain assets can work for buyers in their unique situation.

 Bidders can take their time to become familiar with the catalog, bid interactively or use the MaxBid which allows the system to bid on your behalf up to your max amount you feel is a good value for your particular situation.

What is the difference between Auctions-Now.com and an eBay type auctions?

EBay auctions feature one item sold to one buyer. Each transaction is independent of each other. Both the Seller and the Bidder have poor access to maintain communication, financial transactions, shipping arrangements and feedback to assure a successful sale. Auctions-Now.com auctions sell many items to many buyers. The average auction features one to several thousands of items. You can add large amounts of inventory and/or assets to your business with one sale at your price!

How can I get on Auctions-Now.com‘s mailing list?

Auctions-Now.com will notify bidders of auctions using our weekly e-newsletter and special short-notice announcements. Our newsletter is opt-in only, and we promise never to share your email or information. If at any time you would like to opt-out, simply click remove at the bottom of the newsletter. The Auctions-Now.com newsletter is the best way to learn about late breaking, short notice opportunities and online events specific to your needs.

How much do things sell for?

The bidders who are familiar with the items and attend the inspection usually get the best deals. Almost every item starts at zero or $1.00 and sells to the highest bidder.  Bidders should predetermine how much they are willing to pay for an asset in accordance to its value new as well as its value to their specific need.  Bidders name their own price!

Can I make an offer on everything for sale in one event?

Yes, if an agreeable amount is negotiated, the amount agreed to plus buyer’s premium and sales tax (if applicable) must be made 48 hours before the beginning of the sale.

Can Auctions-Now.com cancel an event that has already started?

Auctions-Now.com can: cancel, suspend, extend or reschedule an individual item and/or the whole sale.

Is Auctions-Now.com a safe platform to purchase assets from?

Auctions-Now.com takes your personal online security very seriously. Auctions-Now.com will never share your email address or personal information with any other business or person outside of Auctions-Now.com.  We have all proper security certificates and use security safe payment systems.

REGISTRATION

Why do I need to register?

You must register to bid.  It is our duty to qualify bidders for our and our seller’s interests.  In registering you can also sign up to be notified whenever items that would be of interest to you will be available for you to name your price!

Is there a FEE to register?

No, there is no fee to register; however, we do authorize your credit/debit card for $100.00 to assure you have a valid credit/debit card. The $100.00 authorization is similar to a hotel authorization. The authorization expires after the conclusion of the event.

Why do I need a credit card to register?

Credit cards are required to registered since we want to be guaranteed payment If you make purchases.

Once I register what next?

You are ready to bid on all events. You only have to complete the registration form with your contact information once.  You use your bidder number and password for all events. You will be prompted to confirm your registration for each event including acknowledgement that you have read and agree to the specific terms for that sale.

INSPECTIONS

Are items available for inspection or preview?

Yes, most events feature a preview, inspection or open house one or two days prior to the conclusion of the auction.  We highly recommend previewing assets.  Staff will be on location to answer any questions and consult on how assets will work for their specific situation.  Bidders who take advantage of preview times are much more likely to make a smarter buying decision.  Though our descriptions are written very well, everyone has different expectations and perceptions; therefore it is a good idea to attend the preview.  You may let something go that was a better deal then you perceived online!

Do I need to bring identification to the preview?

Yes, due to assets of high value, we like to control the access to the preview.  Please bring a photo I.D. and sign in at the front, thank you!

BIDDING

How do I place a bid?

To bid, you must first register with Auctions-Now.com.

Once you are registered bidding is easy. Visit an online event with an active catalog. Click the link for online bidding.

Place the Next Bid Required in the your bid box and your Max bid in the your maximum box (max bids are optional) at the bottom of the page enter your user name and password. Click the submit bid button and after confirming that you accept the terms of sale your bid is entered.

How do I submit my bids?

You enter your bids next to the lot and submit bids at the bottom of each page. Enter your bidder number and password, you will be prompted to read and agree to the specific terms for each sale before bids are final.

Can I preview an item in person?

Am I bidding on the photo or the description of the item?

You are bidding on the description. Some equipment may be joined and photographed together. Do not assume a lot consists of more than one item simply because they are connected or pictured together. You are bidding on the item number as it is described.  For instance, a desk will not include a computer or office supplies that may be pictured on it.

How can I find and bid on items of interest to me?

The auction assets are fully searchable.  Experiment with the category and the search feature at the top of the auction catalogue to view the groups of items you are interested in. Once the items that interest you are listed, you can easily bid on them.

You can search by: Keyword or item number (any of the words, all the words, exact phrase, containing). You can search several item numbers or keywords at the same time by placing a space between your search requests

Can I submit a bid offline?

All bids on single items or groups must be made through the Auctions-Now.com platform.

Is there a minimum bid price on merchandise?

There is no minimum bid on most items. Occasionally, Auctions-Now.com will allow a Seller to place a minimum, confirmation, starting or proxy bid on an item. In most cases items start at $0.00 and allow you to name your own price!

What if the lot has a quantity of more than one?

Check the item description. If is says sold bid price X than it is being sold bid price times the quantity. Check your final bid price before submitting your bid. For example, quantity equals 10 ("you must bid all 10" or "minimum quantity of 10") for $20.00 each, this means a winning bid would be $200.00 ($20.00 X 10).

Do all of the items close at one time?

No, items close in online catalog order usually 5 items per minute (staggered closing). (Check specific event terms for details). Catalogs close dynamically and the closing time is automatically extended if a bid is placed within 4 minutes of an items posted closing time. Bidding on an item could remain active indefinitely as long as bids continued to be placed within a four minute increment. The system is based on minutes, not seconds.

Am I notified if I am outbid?

If you have been outbid you will be notified by email until midnight the day of the event. Please note that outbid notices are not sent on the day of the event closing. To quickly review your bids and see if you have won you can utilize the 'review bids' feature. Enter your Bidder Number and Password then review bids Items that they have been outbid on will be clearly marked.

How do I know if an item has ended?

You can review the items that are still open by clicking the link for active items.

REVIEW BIDDING

How do I know if I won an item?

Once the auction has ended, Auctions-Now.com has an automated system that processes your credit card and sends you a paid email invoice to the email address in your bidder profile.

How can I view all bids I've submitted at one time?

Go to the online catalog and select Review Bids. Enter your Bidder Number and Password then review bids.

BIDDING STRATEGIES

How do I get the best price or value for an item?

Should I bid while the auction is closing?

Many of bidders begin bidding as items are closing. Internet only auctions can be more exciting than live auctions, because 3-15 items are closing simultaneously.  So you do not get caught up in last minute bidding and miss another item of interest, it is a good idea to use the MaxBid feature. Just enter your maximum price. No matter how many items are closing, MaxBid will bid on your behalf - using only what it needs to keep you the 'winner'.  You name your own price!

What if I cannot attend the preview?

Most bidders do not attend the preview. It is the bidder’s responsibility to attend previews when they are available.  Study the photos (click the picture, as many items have multiple photos), read the descriptions and make note of the model numbers.  Call us on items of higher value that you may have questions.  If it looks good in the photo and there are no major defects represented in the description, there is a good chance that the item is fine. While we do not warrant items, we do take time to seriously describe them. We want everyone to be a winner that uses our site. We are looking for long time users and advocates of our service! 

Can I increase my own bid?

Yes, you can increase your maxbid without increasing the actual bid.  This may be necessary if you realize a higher value of the asset when you start investigating it and what it will mean to you.

PAYMENT

How do I pay for my items?

Accepted forms of payment include Visa or MasterCard, Discover and American Express. You must have available balance on your credit card for your online purchases. At the conclusion of the event your credit card on file will be automatically charged for the entire amount of your purchases, buyer’s premium and sales tax (if applicable).

What is the buyer’s premium and is it applied to auctions on this site?

Yes, there is a 15% buyer’s premium for most auctions. The buyer’s premium is a fee paid by the bidder to Auctions-Now.com and will be added automatically to each sale.

A 15% buyer’s premium will be added to each purchase where stated (see terms for each auction). If you bid $20.00 at checkout you will be charged $23.00.

TAXES/EXEMPTIONS

Do I have to pay sales tax?

Yes, Sales tax will be collected for the state that the items are located. All buyers are charged sales tax unless the proper tax exempt forms have been submitted before the close of the event. Occasionally, certain administrative sales i.e. Bankruptcies and motor vehicles, are tax exempt.

How do I submit tax exempt forms?

You need to submit a tax exempt for each event with your bidder number and the sale closing date prior to the conclusion of the auction

Complete a tax exempt form and fax to 866-234-3418 or email. You must include your bidder number and the closing date of the event on the top of the form. Forms without this information will not be accepted and you will have to apply to the individual state for a refund.

REMOVAL

Does Auctions-Now.com ship or deliver items?

Auctions-Now.com does provide a shipping and delivery/set-up service and storage! Bidders need to arrange to pick-up their purchases during the scheduled removal times.  Calls must be made to secure a spot on the shipping or delivery schedule.  In some cases it may not be possible for Auctions-Now.com to handle all shipping/delivery requests; therefore you must call us beforehand.  We can also store items offsite for you until a time is convenient for you to ship have it delivered.  All above services are fee based and based upon the items needing shipped, delivered or stored.  We also do space planning for offices and cubicle installation! Whether it is online or live auctions, no other auction service anywhere in the country provides all the services Auctions-Now.com provides!

When can I remove my items?

Specific times, dates and locations are detailed in the “terms” section of each event. Our clients require very specific, narrow timeframes for removal. The removal dates and times are fixed.  We cannot provide either early or late pickup since these are stringent specifications controlled only by the seller.  Take advantage of our moving and or storage service if you cannot get your items or receive your items on the move out date.  You can also feel more comfortable bidding and getting a great deal on items you may not need right away.  Don’t let the assets of your interests get away.  We will store them for you until you need them!

How do I know where to pick up my items?

Locations are listed with each auction.  It is important to know this because pick up arrangements should be scheduled before the sale whether you win the item or not.  Most move out dates are very near the end of the sale, therefore most delivery service companies may not have trucks available for your move out with such short notice.  If items are in a different pick-up location it will be detailed in the item description. You can refer to your emailed receipt for complete removal details and locations.

Will there be someone onsite to assist me in locating or moving my items?

Yes and no, buyers must bring personal and moving equipment such as dollies, hand carts, pads and tools necessary to disassemble and safely move items from the office space to the loading area. Buyers who are unfamiliar with the requirements of moving or disassembling items should arrange for professional assistance.  Only those who schedule our or one of our delivery contacts services for moving will have help from Auctions-Now.com.  This is a fee based service and fees will depend on the products.  Moving services must be arranged prior to the pick-up date.  There is no guarantee that Auctions-Now.com will have trucks or staff available for hire on move out day and will most likely be booked up.  All buyers can be assisted on locating their items potentially with a map.

Can I send a mover to pick up my items?

Yes, the mover must have a copy of your sales receipt.  It is the mover’s responsibility to collect all items on your receipt, so it may be a good idea to accompany the moving company to point out all items you purchased.  Any item left behind will be forfeited with no refund.

What happens if I break or damage property during removal?

The buyer is responsible for any damage they cause to the building or other items.  Any damage will be taken care of by the buyer to the property owner’s satisfaction. Buyers who are unfamiliar with the requirements of moving or disassembling should schedule professional assistance in advance.

ABANDONED ITEMS

What happens if I decide not pick my items up?

After the scheduled removal, items left onsite will be considered abandoned.  A removal fee will be charged to the buyer for items left onsite. No refunds or chargeback's will be done for items that were left.  Terms of the auction are written for all buyers to see before bidding, therefore there will be no excuse accepted for items that are not removed on the removal date.

WARRANTY

Is there a warranty for any items purchased?

No, all assets are sold "as is, where is". There are no warranties expressed or implied and no guarantees. All sales are final, no refunds. Please inspect items when available and bid accordingly.

TROUBLESHOOTING

What happens when an item I was bidding on is no longer available on the catalog?

Though the occurrence is rare, we reserve the right to remove, or combine items at any time as requested by the seller.  The seller normally will not want to do this since there are fees involved with such actions.

What if the picture and description do not match?

You are always bidding on the description.  Please call us if there are any questions about any asset lot or potential problem with a listing.

What if I get a message “contact event administrator” when I place a bid?

Your account has been temporally flagged by our automated system. There are many reasons why this may have occurred.  Please contact us right away so we can help you resolve this situation.

ERRONEOUS BIDS

What happens if I make a mistake while bidding?

Let us know right away and we can resolve the problem, but you must contact us as soon as you can.  Mistakes cannot be remedied after the item sells no exceptions.

Can I delete my bid if I no longer want the item?

No, your bid is a contract that cannot be compromised.  The integrity of or service rests on several assurances to the seller, this being one of them.  Your bid will influence other bidder’s actions; therefore our site’s integrity will be damaged with other bidders as well.

What happens if I don’t get an email and I think I won items?

Go to the online catalog and select Review Bids. Enter your Bidder Number and Password then “review bids” If you were the high bidder and did not receive a confirmation email notify our customer service team.

What happens if my credit card is declined for my purchases?

At the conclusion of the sale you will be immediately notified by email. Bidders who have two failed attempts to process their charges will have their bidding account suspended. If your account is in default the administrator will have the option of reselling, removing, storing or abandoning the item or items, at the expense and risk of the purchaser, if the items are not paid for and/or removed within the specific time.

The buyer agrees to pay all deficiencies, legal, collection; transportation and storage expenses associated with delinquent accounts or abandoned items as written in the contract that must be agreed to before bidding on any sale.

What if something I bid on is not available for pick up?

If an item is not available for pickup, the buyer must, notify our customer service team within 24 hours of the pickup date. After 24 hours, the buyer agrees that no adjustment or refund will be made. Any item unavailable for delivery may be exchanged for a like item.  Auctions-Now.com and the Seller are only liable for the bid amount plus buyer’s premium and sales tax.

GLOSSARY

Lot — an item or group of items offered as one unit. Lots are usually offered as bid price times the quantity listed.

Bid Increment — the dollar amount by which the bidding is advanced. It is either set manually by Auctions-Now.com or is computer generated based on the Current Winning bid amount. Current Bid + Bid Increment = Next Allowable Bid.

Bidder — the person who places a bid on an item.

End Time — The date and time of day (Eastern Standard Time unless otherwise noted in the terms) that an event begins to end in the catalog order.

Staggered Closing — Auctions-Now.com usually closes lots from 3-5 items per minute. Check the terms of sale to determine the number of items which will close per minute.

Dynamic Closing — the closing time of an asset is automatically extended an additional 4 minutes whenever a bid is placed within the last 4 minutes of the asset's closing time.

Current Bid — the present high bid. To become the current high bidder, you must advance the bidding by the next Bid Increment. Current Bid + Bid Increment = Next Allowable Bid.

MaxBid — if you want to bid online, but can't be there to monitor the auction, use the MaxBid feature. Just enter your maximum price when bidding, and MaxBid will bid on your behalf - using only what it needs to keep you the 'winner'. The MaxBid feature is the surest way to win the items you are interested in at the lowest possible price. The MaxBid feature is particularly useful when you are bidding on multiple items or in an event with 100’s or 1000’s of lots.
